Random ponderings of a crafty mind

Go be that starving Artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world. You’ll thank yourself for it.

As a teacher, I would love the kids in my class to do these things. In fact, it would probably be me that randomly gave references to YA books that would leave them all baffled!

Another book inspired crafty creation…

If you’ve read Slammed and Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover (and if you haven’t, go out and buy the darn books already!) then this may be looking familiar. Remember the vase that Layken’s mum filled with paper stars for Will and Lake to dip into when they needed a little nugget of wisdom? Well, I always loved that idea. It’s been a tough couple of weeks and I could have done with a few little pearls of wisdom to help me make some big decisions. If only I had my own vase of paper stars…

Cue an afternoon spent with a sharpie pen (how amazing are those things?!), some scissors, lots of strips of paper, my old leather journal full of wisdom quotes, and a little bit of patience - and obviously a soundtrack of The Avett Brothers among others! - and voila! My very own jar of wisdom for bad days…and good. And I might be biased, but I think it’s butterflying awesome ;)

Thanks for the inspiration Colleen Hoover, and while I’m at it thanks for the amazing books too x

Very proud of this little masterpiece…My Hunger Games themed Graduation cake.

Prizes for guessing what each layer is about. Ok, we’ll maybe not actual prizes, more like a metaphorical nod of approval, but that’s something…!

And the flavour of the cake? Dauntless Chocolate Cake of course!

Wonder if Chef Duff would take this as my audition piece for a job at Charm City…!
